How to get your Court Clearance?

Why obtain your court clearance?
Accomplishing your list of Pre-Employment requirements is a must. If your employer requires this, then run to the nearest Regional Trial Court (RTC) and get one for yourself during weekdays. 

Why? 

A court clearance is needed by companies to assure that the employees they are about to hire are free from pending court cases. Those with pending cases are  basically required to clear their names; others are given options to write affidavits to support legislation. 

This article features only getting a court clearance in Cebu City, Philippines.

Location-wise

I got mine from the RTC at the back of the Cebu Provincial Capitol. This location is accessible for almost everybody where it sincerely docks to traffic-congested areas like Escario street and those traveling to fuente areas. 

The Capitol area is a real good spot to also obtain your other Pre-Employment requirements such as your NBI Clearance and your Philhealth forms. You may want to find other blogs to guide but you are assured that this guide is based from my blood and sweat to line up in a government office. 

Here are the steps.

(1) Proceed to the back part of the Cebu Provincial Capitol and you can find the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City (see map above). I think some of you might feel confused, so I'd suggest, you go directly to the security guards in the facade of the Capitol building and ask them on how to get there. Other ways would be to take the Escario entrance and for those from Guadalupe, you may take the entrance nearest 7-Eleven.

(2) The security guards in the Palace of Justice require everyone to give out their IDs, not unless you are an employee of the Provincial Capitol. They will give, in exchange, a visitor's ID.

(3) Go to the right side, then straight ahead and you can find a small window and a desk where a sheet of paper is found.

(4) Write your name on the sheet of paper and call out to the nearest employee to give you a piece of paper containing the date on when to get the clearance. Most clearances required for employment would take a day or two. Unfortunately, in my case, I signed it up on thursday, and got it on tuesday the next week. It is on a case-to-case basis. 

(5) What was written on the sheet of paper was the date & time to retrieve the clearance, the needed amount and the postal stamps for the clearance. The required payment for the Clearance was Php 50, while the stamp costed Php 20. The stamp can just be bought in an office in the Capitol. (near the clinic, Lower ground floor).

(6) Upon the said date and time, claim your clearance first from the first window (where you signed up for your name) and take it to the cashier. Make sure you do not forget to bring your payment and the postal stamp.

(7) After a few minutes, you can now get your clearance.

(8) If you're planning to use your court clearance for more important matters, you can have it stamped "Original Copy" by photocopying it outside and going back inside to pay Php 20.
